OR day -2: 1st descent of Radish Falls

We took a brief tour of the Intermountain West kayaking scene for Pete from PeakUK so he could see just how miserable conditions are here. Here's the story:

After a brief holdover to do our traditional run of the Malad River and Bliss-Hagerman, we drove several more hours and did some scouting till we finally came to the Upper Middle Northwest Fork of the Radish River just outside of a suburb of Middleofnowhere. As luck would have it, the levels were appropriate for a first descent of Great Radish Falls, the most challenging section of the river.

The Radish River is named such for the acres of radish fields which suckle at its mighty white teat. The fertile valley which the Radish runs through sits at the heart of radish production for the entire North American continent. Should the Radish's mighty waters ever run dry, condiments and salads in America would suffer a massive price surge as heavily tariffed Mexican radishes would be required to make up for market demand. So it was with a deep sense of awe that we treaded lightly through the radish fields portaging to the banks of GRF.

Pete and I ran the falls with only a few minor upsets. There's a lot more up at kendriscoll.com. Enjoy
