The cross deck blunt is a very cool moves but you have to be very careful because of the stress of planting the blade in such a position (can cause serious damage...).

1. Setup at the top of the pile sitting on top of the sweet spot you are going to blunt at about 45 degrees to the wave.
2. Place a forward power stroke in. This will determine how fast the blunt is going to be the fast it is the more dynamic.
3. Lean using your hip onto the side of the blade, this creates the carve for the move
4. Whilst still leaning bring the paddle out of the water the start to bring it round onto the off side for the initiation.
5. Using your hips carve the boat back the other way like you would if you were doing a split and carry on moving the blade round for the initiation.
6. Start to bring your weight round as the boat starts to go into a spin, this will force the front of the boat down.
7. Bring the blade into the water to provide the pull on the front of the boat so it digs.
8. Alter the angle using your hips to decide how vertical you wish the move to be.
9. Allow the boat to follow through of the power of the blade under the water but use your hips like in a cartwheel to help pull the boat round.
10. Now use your hips and the blade on the water to help start to bring the boat flat so it does not carry on into a cartwheel.
11. Using you hips begin to flatten the boat out to water.
12. Now support on the pile using the blade else you will just fall in if you are not careful
13. Carry on supporting and starting to work out what you next move will be.
14. You are now flat and the crowd will go wild but follow it up with a cool move like a clean spin of do a hand blunt in the other direction.
