Crested Butte, Oh-Be-Joyful

kayak
Waterfall sequence, Colorado, Crested Butte, Oh-Be-Joyful

What's it like

Oh-Be-Joyful is one of the best times you can have in a creek boat. It is just outside of Crested Butte Colorado nested into a steep mountain valley.

To get to the put in you need to drive though a river so if the rio is running high be careful not to get swept downstream. There are 2 ways to start this run: one at ankle breaker falls, and the other off of a 15 footer (pictured below).

First Drop on OBJ

After the 15, you drop a slide into an elbow turn into a 8 footer, slide, elbow, 25 footer, slide, optional slide with lots of wood, slide, and then slide.

Dan Piano going for it on the 25er on OBJ. Dont go too far right.

This run is epic. The gradient is 400ft per mile and it doesn't let up until you're done.

How to get there
