Oppland, Laagen River, Ringebu
Playspot: Norway, Oppland, Laagen River, Ringebu
What's it like
photo: Hannah Paul
Ringebu is a lovely play spot on a big flat meandering river. It consists of 2 holes next to each other, under the ugliest bridge known to mankind, with awesome scenery around. You can move between the 2 holes easily. The bigger hole (river right) is good for multiple cartwheels in both directions and a multitude of other moves. The smaller wave is good for spinning and right hand cartwheels.
The water is cold but you can wear short sleeves in the summer. The eddies are good for up to 12 people.
The spot works from April to October (too cold and frozen after October).
How to get there
It is 3 hours from Oslo (North). Turn off the E6 at the Kiosk in Ringebu towards the river. Turn off a track to the right just before the road crosses the river and park under the bridge. Put in here and paddle down 300 meters. You can run the weir without problems but look for wire on the right hand side.
