River Verdon, Castellane
Playspot: France, South, River Verdon, Castellane.
What's it like
The spot is a wave/stopper right at the bottom of a slalom course. It is deep enough for any kind of boat. Wave moves such as spins and blunts are easier because it is not really retentive (more than 5 vertical ends is exceptional here). There are eddies on both sides, big enough for more than 15 boats.
There is no hazard near the spot and the water quality is very good. The Verdon is dam released. The best water level is 40 cumecs which is the standard level during dam releases.
How to get there
The spot is in Castellane, in the Verdon gorge. There is only one road so it is not very hard to find... In Castellane, the wave is downstream of the road bridge. Access by car on river left and park near the water.
Locals
Local playboaters and some rafters going for the gorge run.
Events
Verdon River Festival every year. Very nice event, friendly atmosphere and good music.
