Beaurainville, River Canche, Beaurainville
Playspot, France, North, Beaurainville, River Canche, Beaurainville.
What's it like
The spot consists in two stoppers about three meters wide. The one river right can be a bit sticky but isn't dangerous. It also becomes a green wave in high water level. There is a huge eddy on river right and the spot is not dangerous at all. Clubs usually bring their beginners here. There is a gnarly metal spike just upstream of the river right stopper, keep that in mind when arriving from upstream (or go river left).
There are two other playspots in the next kilometer of the river that can be interesting in high water. The first one is a wave about 15 meters wide.
The stoppers are here all year round. Each water level has its own advantages and disadvantages. Heavy rain causes a quick rise (but it also drops quickly) of the water level, which will make the waves go flat and the stoppers disappear.
How to get there
The spot is located in Beaurainville on the D349 between Montreuil sur Mer and Hesdin. In Beaurainville, follow the signs for the "Club de canoé-kayak" or "Base de loisirs". Otherwise, follow the signs "Camping de la Source". The spot is under the bridge (old mill) near the kayak club (white building on the left of the first picture).
