What's it like

An artificial whitewater course, originally built for slalom racers (i.e. there is not a lot of real hardcore action for playboaters). Yet, there are two playspots worth mentioning:

The first one is at the entrance: a little fall about 1 meter high which builds a fun surf- and rodeo wave (the shape of the wave is adjustable). Sometimes it's totally green, so it's only for surfing and flatspinning. When it's shorter and steeper it can be pretty aggressive... Either way, the entrance is narrow and rather tricky. Also, the concrete walls on the left and right plus the bridge right over your head mean that this is no place for the claustrophobic.

The second spot is in the middle of the course, which is about 400 meters long. It's pretty small, but good for cartwheels, pirouettes and so on:

How to get there

From Switzerland: take the freeway from Basel to the German border. Right after the border, take the first exit in the direction of France..

From Germany: take the freeway from Freiburg to Basel. Take the last exit before the Swiss border in the direction of France.

Just after the bridge over the river Rhine, at the traffic lights, turn left to Huningue.

From France: take the freeway from Mulhouse to Basel. Take the last exit before the Swiss border to St. Louis. From St. Louis to Huningue it's only about 3 kms.

Once in Huningue, follow the signs 'Parc des eaux vives'.

You have to check in at the reception building and pay a little fee.
