River Richelieu, Chambly's Waves

Playspot: Canada, Quebec, River Richelieu, Chambly's Waves.

What's it like

Two waves on the river Richelieu. The first one is green (7 meters wide, 1.5 meters high). No eddie for this one; you have to walk back up-river (it's worth it though). The second one is just below the first one and is sometimes a green wave and sometimes a breaking wave, depending on the water level. This one does have a large eddie.

Best time is mid March until the end of May.

How to get there

From Montreal, driving on the 10, take the exit 'Chambly' and follow direction Chambly until you get to a lake. Now turn right and you'll pass an old fortress. Turn left at a flower shop and park beside the dam. The playspot is 100 meters after this old dam. You can put in right after the dam and walk back to the car through the park.

More info

There is a kayak school 'Ca flotte kayak'.

Events

Chambly Rodeo every year in spring.
