Brief Review of Fluid Nemesis

I have been kayaking for about 5 years now I recently bought a Fluid Nemesis as my primary play boat.

I tested the Nemesis out on the Zambezi in November/Decmeber so the river was pretty low but rising.

I found the Nemisis in generall absolutly incredible. It was very stable in all maner of water from the infamous boils found all over the place to punching through large holes or surfing sweet waves. It is incredibly easy to role should you go over and has plenty of bounce to help throw airial manouvers. The boat has easy acceleration for running more technicall lines.

All in all a great easy to use play boat.

Well worth buying

I recently bought a Nemesis M at kanoshop.nl, the European importer of Fluid. I have only paddled it a few times on a small wave/hole but I allready realy like this kayak.

At first, the boat might seem a bit big and heavy; but once on the water, this is quickly forgotten. The large cockpit allows for easy entry and exit and the Nemesis M is very roomy even for long legged paddlers. The adjustable thigh braces are perfect. The backrest gives a good support. The seat is a bit flat but this can be fixed with the foam supplied with the kayak. Adjustable hip pads are also supplied.

On flat water, if you first put it well on edge, it is easy to put on end.

It is very predictable in a hole. In the foam, it is very stable flat as well as on edge and you can link ends with fluidity even in shallow spots. I don't master the loop but due to it's well balanced volume it shouldn't be a problem. This boat is quite retentive.

On a wave, the rails have a good grip but are not too aggresive. With a wide hull and quite a lot of rocker the boat is quite fast, very easy to spin and it should bounce well from what I have experienced.

The Nemesis seems strong and well build. The hull is stiff and the plastic resists well to abrasion.

In conclusion, the boat is easy to handle on a wave as well as in a hole. It's made for paddlers between 70 and 90kg. A smaller and a bigger version will soon be available. This boats are well worth trying before buying anything else.

Fluid Nemesis Large Review (Prototype)

River: Vaal
Location: Gatsien’s shoot
Water level: 15 cumecs

The previous two days I had been paddling my large Flirt, which has been my playboat since on the market. In comparison; getting into the boat, it looks slightly smaller inside, yet as comfortable as you can be in a playboat. The widest part of my feet was as comfortable compared to the Flirt, however this was a prototype boat and the production boat has been made bigger. The nose is boxed shape and doesn’t taper. As I started paddling, it felt alive, leaving the Flirt feeling sluggish. It’s quick on flat and moving water. In the hole it’s loose and quick. On my second time the quarter edge and window shaded, which I haven’t done in the past two days. It’s easier to control and position on the foam pile for setting up moves. With cartwheels the boat is easy to initiate and stable on end and a lot easier to put on edge than the Flirt. The blunts were easier as a result it being very easy to switch form one edge to another. The nemesis is very quick on ends as well as being easier to roll than the flirt.

Comments from 14 year old Marius Gerritz, Whitewater Training Rodeo Kayak Student
I was surprised at how much easier the rolling is with the sharp edges than what I anticipated. Its also so much easier into the hole, spinning was easier. It stayed in the hole longer. I like this boat!
