About myself

This past summer I moved to the Dominican Republic to teach with my wife. While here I was introduced into kayaking and now I am hooked. I have only had the chance to paddle 5 different boats including the prijon 225. I have paddled the Yaque del Norte in class I-III sections, so far. I'm looking forward to getting into some class III-IV in the upper canyons.

About the test environment
The Yaque del Norte in the Dominican Republic is the best whitewater in this tropical country. There is the full range of whitewater classes I-V. The upper canyon is class III-V. This area is narrow river, moving fast through several rock gardens. There are several waterfalls such as Mike Tyson and the Mother-nLaw. The Lower protion down to the resevior is mainly class I-III. Rock gardens and shallow waters is a norm on this river or any other in the country with whitewater.
The priojon 225 has been a solid boat this year. It handled the rather rocky situations we faced very well. It also comes with a rubber cap on the front of the boat which has been helpful when the water want to push you into a rock. the adjustments on the boat are extremely easy and for the most part very quick, and on the fly. This boat turns on a dime into and out of eddies, and though it has a displacement hull, I find it pretty quick. It resurfaces quickly. As far as stable I feel it can be a little unstable for beginners, nothing that can't be fixed with practice. It rolls easy also.
