Recently there has been alot of upset in the irish paddling community.
In and around the greater Dublin and Wicklow area there have been a number of kayak and gear robberies. These have left quite a few people upset and annoyed, including CHILDREN.
The stuff stolen includes kayaks and lots of gear.. The majority of things was from a breakin to an outdoor shop on sunday night where alot of stock was stolen.
We ask paddlers across the sea to be aware of people selling mass quantities of gear who may seem dodgy. This is not to say ever person selling paddling gear you meet is up to no good.
All members of the Irish paddling community need to be careful with their gear and also cars at drop in points.
We are being targeted at because people are realising the value of kayaking gear is very high. The time is gone
when you leave your gear unattended in your back garden. Please keep it locked up or out of sight if you don't want to lose it.
Be vigilant to all suspcicous kayak sales or gear sales and keep an eye out for some of the missing gear which can be found in various topic places on Irishfreestyle.com
It has been seen as an idea when buying gear to ask for references of previous owners and receipts if it has had only one owner previously. Make sure you have the serial numbers that may be on you gear so that you can keep track of your stuff if it goes astray.
This is something that can and will be stopped as we are a small community and many people know eachother so unheard of faces may not be too hard to spot.
