 I'm heading to Ireland about a month from now, and I was wondering if anyone knows of any place over there where I can rent a boat and gear, maybe find a guide and do a bit of kayaking. I'm a pretty solid Class III boater and don't mind the cold.

I dont know of anyone that just rents gear but there are but if you get onto Brian Keogh from totalexperience.ie he'd be able to sort you out with a few days paddling and kit you out with gear. He's a really nice guy based in Wicklow (east coast south of Dublin) you can e-mail info@totalexperience.ie

Hi there,

What Sara said. Also, you should post on www.irishfreestyle.com/forum - that's were most Irish kayakers hang out. If it's raining when you're here, then there will be boating.

 Thanks to both of you! I'm hoping that it's raining and that I get to kayak just a bit, even if I do end up freezing my bum off!

Hi there,

Get in contact with Ali, he runs sea kayaking trips on the west coast of Ireland. Really spectacular scenery.

www.irelandwestseakayaking.com/

The rivers are usually pretty dry for the summer, but if you are interested in a bit of playboating you should check out

playak.com/article.php?sid=1246

Its tidal so will work during the summer. Also keep an eye out for a bit of kayak surfing on the west coast.

Or flatwater kayaking courses in Galway www.nuigkc.com/corribcanoe/

Enjoy
