Hey Kiddies,

Few questions. I am headed back to africa again this year. what is the waterlevels like on the Nile. Last season they dropped. i looked at the nile report and the wave looked low still. I am assuming they paddled it with a water release so what is in. Cinderella wave should be good, it was the last time I was there in really low water. Cinderella is the new wave on the ugly sisters run. Let me know. there are a few guys comming your way looking to train for worlds, fisher is there now i belive.

BIlly Harris

ps: for all them kiddies wimpin about crocks and hippos I paddled all over the nile, the zam with my girlfriend and never once felt like there was a problem. Don't let fear stand in the way of a Fantastic experiance. I love africa

The Nile and Zam are VERY big rivers and hippos and crocs are usually, i repeat, usually, not a problem. Paddle a river that might only be 5 or 10 metres wide with thick bush skirting the banks and it's a different ball game. Smaller, tighter rivers don't offer the paddler or hippo much room. Not good for the average paddler when confronted with a large male that can get up to 3200 kg and move quicker in water and on land than you can. :skull:

The previous posts where refering to a specific river in South Africa and not generally refering to Africa in general.
:roflol:

Luckily most paddleable rivers in SA don't have hippos and crocs in them.

The main question is - are there any news on the issue?

To be COMPLETED in 2010... :scared:

Not good. It's man's bloody greed for money... The project is now being fast tracked with the help of a couple of million US Dollars.

A real shame for the local community and us paddlers! :bitching:  :anger: :arghhh:
