After the amazing and inspiring story of the Ugandan Freestyle Team and their journey to the ICF Canoe Freestyle World Championships this summer the paddlers at Kayak The Nile were determined to not let the story end there.
Working closely with the International Canoe Federation the team of dedicated paddlers dreamt up the African Freestyle Development Project. This program is dedicated to continue the progression of the sport in Africa in the run up to the next ICF Freestyle World Championships in Brazil.
On April 2nd The White Nile is going to be hosting the first ever African Freestyle Championships with kayakers from all over the continent coming together to compete for the top spot.
In the two weeks leading up to the Championships 10 of Africa’s top freestyle kayakers have been invited to join Sam Ward and Dane Jackson (6th and 1st in the world) for a 2 week Freestyle Kayaking Development Camp in Uganda. Here they will be taking part in workshops and coaching sessions on some of the world’s best freestyle features; an opportunity many of these individuals never dreamt possible.
