I must say those things really have no grip at all on slippery underwater rocks. Annoyed the heck out of me today. I like that barefoot feeling, but I'll keep my eyes open for Vibrams with real profile soles...

I have been using their products (as do most of my guides) for a long time now and have found them to have the best grip of any watershoe I have ever had, ok I do live in SA so we don't have as much choice when it comes to these things but I really think the 5fingers are awesome. The new KSO trek has more solid soles, I recently got some new Speeds and I they are also solid in my opinion with tougher soles and uppers.

I'm talking knee-deep moving water with greenish slimy rocks and pebbles at the bottom. Not a chance. Normally no big deal with my New Balance water shoes, as they have some real profile. But I think I read something about a new Vibram 5finger shoe with real profile as well. Hope we'll get to see them soon at OR :)

So I've had two sets of five fingers. Recently they released some with a good bit of traction and tread to them. I had the slick bottomed ones first and nearly fell off every rock I found myself on. The new ones though, are awesome!

I guess I'll have to order those new Treksports then.

Btw when I bought my KSOs I wasn't aware of the special sizing, so I bought my regular shoe size (EU 43), which are too large. Looking at their charts, and after measuring my feet, it seems I'll have to order size 41 this time, but it feels so weird to order such a small size... What's your experience with the fivefinger sizing?

ja the sizing is better to measure and order the smaller ones that would fit according to your measurements. All my 5fingers are 1 size smaller than my normal shoes and I find them to fit very well. You get more toe into each pocket which means you have a bit more control on each toe. You don't have to order them as small as climbing shoes but if you measure and then order on that size I think you will be very happy.
Try the Treksports or even Bikila/Speed. I got a new pair of speeds and they work really well with the laces, you get a bit more of a secure fit with the laces compared to the straps on the kso's/sprints etc.
