Am a pretty mellow female paddler (Class II-III) who wants a boat for surfing on ocean waves and also for river running with a bit of beginner freestyle manouvers thrown in.

I am looking for my first boat so it seems with my price range here in New Zealand, that I am looking at boats in the older range of 2001-2005. Are there any models I should look into or avoid at all costs?

to surf ocean waves the fluid element is the way to go. for a general all round kayak that goes down the river well, surfs well, plays well have a look at the fluid spice, best all round kayak on the market. not sure if you can get them in NZ though. from bliss-stick I am not sure what would be a good all rounder.

For me the Dagger ID was the ideal boat to surf on the ocean and to learn the playboattricks like cartweels, waveweels and so in ww but also while surfing. After paddling this boat for a few years I went over to the smaller playboats.
