As mentioned elsewhere on this forum, my son and his friends are in training for kayaking the Thames in July.
Yesterday, during a training session down the Trent (Stone to Yoxall), they experience a large number of Swans.
Most where ok and the lads where generally able to pass them without upset to either party - however some where rather more terratorial - so much so that the lads where forced to leave the water on more than one occassion.
Does anyone have any practical experience of what works to distract/ ward off swans?
For the avoidance of doubt, we want to avoid causing them any distress or harm.
