Can a beginner kayaker use the new biscuit 65?

Description:I am a beginner but plan to get really into river and playboating. If i am 185lbs, 5'10" and had to pick one boat what does everyone say?

for example, I am torn between the liquidlogic remix 69 and their new biscuit 65!

LiquidLogic are the only boats I have done any research on, but those videos make them sound great, especially the new biscuit 65...

get something like a dagger axiom or a pyranha z.one because they are forgiving and easy to control they are fun on lots of rivers and they are nice to surf as well being good on reasonable water. the LL biscuit is good if you just want to do playboating and the LL remix is good if just want to do river running these two boats are good for both if you do not have the basic river running skills fully mastered it is point less getting a tiny boat but try lots of boats before you buy

As the previous poster said the Biscuit is a full on playboat and the Remix is a great river runner. Nothing wrong with either boat he suggested either.

For a couple of different suggestions I lean more toward the playful side of the riverplay category and would suggest trying the Jackson Fun series or the Wavesport Fuse (in the appropriate size). Both are very good river runners, the Fun is the more playful of the two and arguably the easiest boat to roll that is made. The Fuse is a bit more stable for river running, a bit less playful, and a bit harder to roll.

I have a 4Fun and it will do any playboat move that I will ever be capable of, it is a great river runner on up to easier Class IV, and I have even done some creeking in it when the rains came unexpectedly and I didn't have my creekboat. Not really a big fan of the Jackson outfitting though.

Now if we could get the Jackson hulls with Liquid Logic's Bad Ass Outfitting, then we would have a hands down winner.

You are asking the most common learning kayakers question. Both kayaks I personally love. I am 185 but i paddle the biscuit 55. If you get the 65 it will be more stable but you will want to sit on a pad to bring yourself up a little higher. That will make it easier to roll.

Now to the tough part. Buying a river runner-play boat as mentioned by many above works for some people. But, you have to know that they run rivers poorly compared to a full river runner and play much worse than a play boat. They do a little of both but not either one very well. I would get the Remix 69 and become a solid kayaker. You'll always want that boat to fall back on when you try running harder whitewater. Then down the road when you are good enough to start playboating aggressively thats when you should grab the biscuit. I hope this helps.

You will progress in the sport much faster in a fast solid river runner than starting in a playboat.

that exactly what i was gunna say buy a used bout like an pyranha ina zone or a fluid spice or any all round boat the problem you will find is that there isnt a boat that can do everything and as you get more experienced youll either focus on a particular area of the sport or youll end up with a shed full of different boats all specialised in certain areas. but for know get river runner thats maybe got a bit of playfull feel to it and itll serve you well for a few seasons
