Depends on what you're paddling. I don't know the Bandit from Werner but Werner paddles are normally top notch paddles. The glass paddles are great and won't break when used normally. Especially the Werner prices differ a lot between the carbon and glass, I'd never pay 450 bucks for a paddle, I wouldn't dare to put it in the water. All paddles can break when running falls, or playing on the bigger features out there.

In short, especially for a first paddle, I'd say it is a waste of money

Urge Offline Platinum Member Posts: 760 Thank you received: 0	Carbon is stiffer and lighter for the same strength so the can use less carbon in a paddle to get the same strength as a glass on and slightly stiffer so not as nice on your wrists. Personally i woould probably get a glass one as they tend to absorb more shocks, and they also show better if you drop it in the river black carbon very sexy but hard too find floating in the water
