Aug 13 Social Instagram Point Lake was big! I kept on tasting the water to see if it was salty :) 150+ km before getting into the current. #coppermine #trakkayaks #intothewater #kokatat @trakkayaks
Aug 13 Social Instagram We packed our food with an inherent motivation to fish.. i.e. didn't bring much in quantity or variety :) If we didn't catch fish, it was another night of rice and soy sauce.. Lake trout, pike, grayling all kept us fat and happy... Some nights the first cast from the campsite brought in dinner.. the good life! #coppermine #trakkayaks #intothewater #kokatat #kayakfishing @trakkayaks
Aug 13 Social Instagram Phenomenal fishing. Good Eating! #happykayaker #coppermine #trakkayaks #intothewater #kokatat #kayakfishing @trakkayaks
Aug 10 Social Instagram Starting to post a few pics from my kayaking trip to the Coppermine River a few weeks ago. Here Garrett waits by our charter Cessna 185 for better flying weather. We lost a full paddling day - reducing our available time to paddle to the Arctic Ocean. It was a good reminder to me of the need to leave our tight time scheduling expectations behind - it has no place in wilderness travel. #trakkayaks #intothewater #kokatat #raenergy
Aug 10 Social Instagram Enroute to Point Lake, NWT. Nearly 300 km from Yellowknife, Point Lake is a massive, 150 km lake - our starting point. With more than 700 lbs of people, kayaks, and gear, we were absolutely maxed out for weight in our little plane. I even had to leave most of the medical whiskey behind. :(. Remember that explorer named Franklin? On an earlier (non canabalistic) expedition he actually managed to travel inland to reach Point Lake... Only to have many of them freeze to death on the return to his ship. Apparently that expedition was at considered a success?? #intothewater #kokatat #raenergy #trakkayaks
