Cool setup! I'm guessing a crate sits right in there too. No flush mount holders? What kayak is that?

No I don’t use a crate. I put my catch in the open area and my battery goes forward under the pvc. It’s a wilderness Radar 135. I built a mount for an electric trolling motor where the pedal drive goes making it an electric kayak.

I was able to pass inspection even though there was a little condensation on the underside of my front hatch and a little water in the groove next to the hinge. They were looking it over pretty close but decided the little bit of moisture was just condensation. They said they were checking all kayaks even though the regs seem to say paddle kayaks don’t require inspection. The gate opens at 7:00 am now so no more arriving early to be on the water at sunrise.

Thanks for the update.
Not surprised at the nannyfornia laws spilling outside of their parameters.
Still $20-+ to launch?

All I'm getting from them is redirects to the above mentioned link.
Nothing has been said why kayakers are being targeted/added to the inspection....

Yes $20

Plenty of places to launch from around the lake without having to use a boat ramp and pay such a fee.
Good to keep your kayak clean, I agree with that.

Dish please.
Don't expect an invite to the double secret launch spots.

I've not been up there in a yak.
Just power boats.
How secure is it up there nowadays?
Headed to the south Napa river shortly.

I carry my Radar 135 on a trailer and launch at boat ramps. Now that i’m 66 it’s getting difficult to pick it up high enough to put it on the wheelz. Maybe I should get a super light kayak for the occasional shore launch. I would like to fish from Oak Shores day use again. It’s the only way for me to access the area around the big island.

Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.

A Steelhead always knows where he is going, but a Man seldom does.

Now that looks interesting, I wonder how they came up with that as a surefire remedy for all the places the h2o in question could puddle...
tldr hot h2o in a plastic yak???

Although it should clean the bilge.

Oregon has been doing this for years. The invasive mussels die with exposure to hot water, 100%. I don't know exactly what the temp is, but it isn't that high.

I don't think they are requiring kayaks to do that tho - just pass the dry inspection and should be good.  I doubt the water is hot enough to damage a plastic kayak anyway - doesn't HDPE melt at much higher than 212F?
