Hello All,

As many of you already know I am throwing a free 2 hr surf zone clinic here at the Monterey MBK shop. The flyer is below. I have a few seats left so please call us to reserve your spot. It looks like we will be having some good size surf so come prepared!

I would love to take my son to this but I'm afraid the surf this weekend is beyond his ability. It's very cool of you to do this. Keep us posted on any other opportunities please.

We are sheltered at our location and will have multiple instructors. we will not be putting anyone in a situation they can't handle. You can also join just for the on land portion as we will be going over in detail how to handle the surf before we paddle through it

Would appreciate if some of you guys that made it would be able to share what you learned n experienced in this clinic.
Pretty good forecast of waves today. Perfect for the clinic.

Thanks everyone for coming out. We had a good showing of NCKA members with some newer to the sport guys coming out to learn. We will have a video that I will post a little later. If anyone here at MBK has suggestions for another free clinic let me know and I will get the ball rollin.

Super clinic -- big thank you to Adam and the MBK folks.

Great mix of instruction/theory and on-the-water experience. Waves were just the right height to experiment with, and I have a better feel of what I can and can't do with my barge of a kayak (Hobie Outback). I also had a 13 year-old along in his own 'yak, and he is much improved. If anything, he might be a bit overconfident now. No doubt the ocean will cure him of that in due time.

I'll second Tommy's comments.

Thank you Adam for putting on an awesome clinic. I really appreciate the time and effort you and your guides put into it. You guys are really great instructors. I learned several techniques that dramatically improved my surf launching and landing. I think anyone planning to do surf launches should take a class like this. After the class I practiced for a couple of hours to reinforce the lessons and get more experience without any gear on my kayak, time well spent. Now I am comfortable launching in small surf but also know that it is still really easy to roll my Outback so I plan to stow everything when going through the surf.
