A Fairbanks man is missing after failing to return from a kayaking trip on the Chena River on July 6.

Alaska State Troopers say 36-year-old Sean Murphy departed in a red single seat kayak from the Chena River access at the end of Chena Small Tracts. He was reported overdue on Monday morning.

“His destination and route are unknown,” AST wrote in an online dispatch. “He is believed to have continued down the Tanana River.”

Murphy is described as a white man, 6’1” and about 200 pounds with short to medium length hair and stubble facial hair, troopers say. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact troopers at 451-5100.
