First on 10: RI State Police trooper placed on administrative leave

NBC 10 News has learned that a Rhode Island State Police trooper has been placed on administrative leave after an incident in Smithfield.

NBC 10 confirmed the news Tuesday afternoon.

A spokeswoman for the department would not comment on what exactly happened, but said an internal investigation is underway.
